I’m a Massage Therapy student and I’m finding that most people on here believe you can train to be a LMT in a month!!!! (I wish!) I’m in school right now learning all the benefits of massage (circulatory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, elimination, increased ROM, decreased pain, increase in white blood cell count in people with HIV, increased immunity, treatment for lots of diseases without the use of medication). I believe MT is incredibly undervalued and it’s my goal to educate the people about preventative healthcare utilizing exercise, healthy diet, MT, and chiropractic adjustments.
What do you think about massage therapy?

I have the option of going to Physical Therapy or a Chiropractor to have them look at my back.
I have sciatica and probably a herniated disc. I’m 17 and otherwise fit. Opinions please.

I have had chronic neck pain for the last 5+ years. I recently had a neck xray and found that I have degenerative disc disease (I believe this is or is related to osteoarthritis). I was wondering if anyone out there also has this and had success with physical therapy, chiropractic, etc….as opposed to surgery.. I would like to avoid surgery if possible. Any info is appreciated…..Thanks!

If my orhtopedist recommends PT but my insurance will only cover Chiropractic can one get the same benefits ?

Physical therapy – because you’re actually helping people. Chiropracty is a pseudoscience – the chiropractors around here claim they can cure cancer, asthma, and AIDS, just by moving your spine around. Hint: they can’t. They are scam artists, and they know it. Get a real medical degree instead.

I have always wanted to study Dietetics and nutrition along with alternative medicine till i was told i would work in a hospital/school and that i wouldn’t earn much money and that the amount put in seldom equals what you get out.So i decided to look at other options like chemistry and pharmacy, i changed my mind when i looked at the maths involved. So i decided to take up medicine till i found Chiropractic and Physical therapy today.I want to know what kind of modules i will have to study? Will it be mainly biology or physics maths and chemistry? Will i have to do chemistry, maths and physics at all?what is the difference between the two in terms of hours, salary and the type of work done?would it be wise to study either of the two and combine them with alternative medicine?which is better to study?is there a shortage for jobs?
please please help me..any help would be appreciated.
Thanx

how do u guys think about the career of chiropractic and physical therapy. ( would be better if you are on the profession)
in my opinion, chiropractic is little riskier then P.T because of negative concepts of the people. They help patients to stay at their top natural healing point by fixing the problems of muskeletal and nervous system.
Physical therapy is really rewarding career. Their job is to help patients to overcome their injuries by supporting and motivating them.
I really have hard time on picking between chiro and p.t. what do u guys think that should b good?

How much did you pay for the treatments?
How many treatments did you need to correct the problem?
Did the pain return after you completed the treatment?
Is it just a pain control treatment or does it actually correct the problem?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks for your answers in advance.

PT and Chiro are different professions in many ways. PT will without question offer higher job security the first 2-3 years. This is due to the fact that many healthcare facilities employ PT and very few directly hire chiropractors. The Chiro income potential is much greater than PT. You must market yourself and establish a client base to have good success in chiro. This requires you to be a pretty good marketer and willing to extend yourself beyond regular office hours. But beyond the financial aspect enjoyability will be based on your likes and dislike. I am a nurse and previously considered both opportunities. I made my decision after shadowing each opportunity. Good Luck!

Asking a question like this on yahoo answers is going to get you a lot of stupid responses about the two professions. If you are really throwing up these two options then I suggest you do some good reading, and maybe visit a couple of each to find out about what they do, because its not really at all similar.
Me personally, I would do to the Chiropractic school, but this is only because thats what helped me with my own personal problem. And thats what most peoples opinions are going to be based on.
Find out some more about the professions and make an educated opinion, not just one based on what other people have told you.

I have suffered for years from debilitating lower back pain, and doctors only recommend pills or surgery. It comes and goes, but as of recent it has been really bad, cause stabbing pains in my lower sides, tingling in my toes, and hindering my range of motion greatly. I am young (26 yrs old) and it is ruining my quality of life. Any feedback or advice on inversion therapy is much welcomed

I think that I would try physical therapy for this condition. From a natural standpoint this takes some time and effort to “thaw” a shoulder or prevent it from completely freezing up. If a patient came to me with this, I would refer them to a PT first maybe some chiropractic in the future.

Has anyone been able to get massage therapy covered by Aetna? Chiropractic therapy is usually covered, but can massage therapy be “bundled” into this?
