My husband has lower back pain (tailbone I think). He liked doing extreme sports when he was young – probably that’s one of the cause. Anyway, is that a common pain experienced by men in their 40’s?

I need to lose at least 25-30 pounds as I am having multiple medical problems, the least being the new hip and leg pain which is causing me to be unable to even walk for exercise. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and my hip was “out”, so he put it back and today it is back “out”. I cannot afford multiple doctor visits, and I know that if I could lose this weight, I would relieve much of the stress on the joints themselves, making myself more mobile. Any ideas?

Last October my lower back went out while helping my kid get dressed but it got better after a week or 2. But then the pain came back about 2 months later for a few days and it was just on my lower right backside. No radiating down my leg. But again after a few days it went away. So I didn’t think anymore of it. Well a few days ago I was sleeping and woke up with really bad pain in my right lower back and it radiates down my leg to my knee. It hurts to walk, sit, lay down, bend over etc… Any ideas what this could be??

I have pain in my lower right jaw. It hurts to open my mouth. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate the pain as 2. I’m not too concerned about it, but I was just curious as to what might have caused it.
I once hit the top of my head on a cabinet, causing the same pain that I’m feeling now, but this time, I didn’t hit my head or anything. Also, my wisdom tooth was removed from the area that hurts but it was done over a year ago, so I don’t think that that has anything to do with the pain. Also, I’m 19 so I highly doubt that it’s a warning sign of a heart attack.

Out of curiosity, I looked up some of the common heart meds to see whether they can cause back pain. This is what I found:
ACE inhibitors can cause low back pain in 0.5% cases.
Beta-blockers showed small percentage of low back pain and arthralgias, some of it severe (metoprolol).
HCTZ has a report about one case of significant myalgias (muscle pain) and muscle spasm. That could happen especially in the setting of inadequate blood potassium level.
These are the most common heart meds and yes, accoridng to literature findings, they can cause low back pain. For what it’s worth, though, I have been treating patients with cardiovascular drugs for some years now and have never seen this problem. The literature reports often discuss single cases (like HCTZ) or very small percentages that do not correlate with reality of large populations that well. By the way, all drugs now have websites…plug in your specific med and look for “Musculoskeletal adverse or side effects” area. Hope that helps!

Hello,
Great question!
There are many causes for lower back pain and poor circulation; however, one of the most popular causes of back pain has to do with your body’s balance.
A simple imbalance in your posture (often undetectable by the untrained eye) can add stress and tension to your muscles, joints and bones causing all sorts of pain and discomfort.
So, to answer your question – lower back pain will not cause poor blood circulation BUT it’s possible that the cause of the lower back pain may also be the cause of the poor blood circulation to the feet.
Hope this helps.
To your good health,

Okay, my sister has had stomach pain that had then moved to the side of her back (its been 1 week since the pain started). She is around her 40s. However, she does not have any other symptoms besides the pain. We went to the doctor and they said to come for an X-Ray. But I would like to know if any of you guys could tell me what could be the cause of this pain?
