my boyfriend has been having terrible back pain from a pinched sciatic nerve for the past week. he has a hard time getting up from a sitting position, bending over and lately hasnt even been able to pick up our 17 month old daughter. we cannot afford to send him to a chiropractor or a doctor so does anyone know of any stretches or homeopathic remedies that would help relieve some of the pain? thank you!

Massage helps temporarily. What else can I do. I can tell exactly where it starts – it sends a dull pain down my lower back, butt, upper leg and knee. Very uncomfortable!

My left shoulder and arm are killing me, the left side of my neck hurts slighty and my left hand is shaky.
I went to a chiropractor years ago for neck problems on that same side, but it got very expensive and time consuming.
Does this sound like a pinched nerve to anyone that may have experienced it? Are there any other remedies besides adjustments by a chiropractor?

Sounds like sciatica, named after the sciatic nerve. I have it, too, from a m’cycle crash. It tends to recur. If I were you I’d go to see the doctor.
In the meantime, here’s what I do when it flares up: I stand at the side of my bed facing away from it, and sit back carefully on the bed. Keeping my back straight, I lie back so that I’m lying flat on the bed, with my lower legs vertical. You want to keep your knees and feet supported, NOT hanging. Knees are just at the edge of the bed, so that your calves are resting against the side of the bed; and feet are on the floor. (You may need to put a pillow or something under your feet to support them.) This position gives me relief.
Also, and no, I’m not joking, I pray. Believe me, it really works! I asked Jesus to take away my pain, concentrating on Him, and within seconds I felt it ebbing away until it was gone. I cherish the sciatica now, even with all its pain, because I had a dramatic proof of Jesus’ presence and power that day.
Blessings to you!

My friend has a pinched nerve, or so that’s the doctor’s theory. He has pain in his left butt cheek and it cramps up often, usually being worse in the morning. Pain medicine doesn’t seem to make a difference. He’s usually a pain when it comes to going to the doctor and is putting off his MRI that he needs. Any suggestions for at home remedies or something to help with the pain? Thanks! :)

Anyone have a home remedy? I have a pinched nerve that when flared up, makes my “boys” feel like someone is stepping on them, and the pain goes all the way to my big toe. I’ve had epidurals, but I’ve had too many recently, so the doc has cut me off. Prednisone helps, but I know it’s not good for you. The biggest problem is when I’m driving, not walking or working. I have all kinds of wedges and cushions for my seat, but they don’t last but 35 minutes or so. What can I do at home to help? Ice? Heat? Stretching?

Have any of you had a pinched nerve in your back because you were/are pregnant? I am 5 months pregnant and in so much pain sometimes I can’t even walk. Does this go away while you are still pregnant or does it go away after you have the baby. If this keeps up can the doctor put me on bed rest or something? It is extremely hard to sit here at my desk and work when I am in so much pain. Also, I haven’t and don’t want to take any sort of medicine while pregnant or use heating pads so any home remedies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. I have already gone to the doctor and she said it would have to run its course.

I have little-no money and my boyfriend pulled his lower back so bad that he wound up going to chiropractor. He was walking when he went in and by the time he got home, he could barely walk. He’s got a pretty high tolerance for pain, and can’t take any muscle relievers that aren’t prescribed by a Dr. for him. he has been down and in bed for almost 5 days now. The longest I have helped him around the house was maybe 4 hours, and that ’bout got the best of him. Is it possible that the chiropractor could have done more damage than good?

If you have a pinched nerve it is most likely a vertebral problem, like a herniated disk or a disk turning or out of place. These kinds of problems require something more than a home remedy. You may even need vertebral traction, which means going to see a specialist.
Numbness in the elbow and hand may not mean a pinched nerve, though. Are you sure it is? Ultimately you are going to have to see a doctor. Sorry I can’t give you better news.

My husband has pain in his back and left arm down through his hand and numbing his fingers. We were afraid it was his heart, but after a hospital visit and tests by the top cardiologist in our town, it was determined to be a pinched nerve (Thank God!)

He has an appointment in February with a doctor specializing in nerves, but that won’t help now. What have you tried or have heard of to help a pinched nerve. He takes a lot of medications, so not sure if he would be safe with any herbals.
All traditional medicine can offer until then is pain killers.
Thanks.

I have had steroid injections with little help, the pinched nerve has very little space to go through, any options?

Ive had this pain in my left butt cheek that runs down to my knee on and off for about a week. My doctor cant see me for a few days. Is there anything besides aspirin that can ease the pain for what I think is a pinched sciatic nerve until I can see the doctor?

My sister-in-law just had her 5th kid, and her back is killing her. It sounds like a pinched nerve because now and then her arms get tingly and it’s usually during/after picking up one of the kids or any other lifting.

How can she remedy this? All medications aside, are there exercises or anything she can do? Unfortunately, with 5 kids, it’s not possible for her to not lift things. Does anyone have any experiences they can share?
Thanks so much!
