My Hip Is Really Bothering Me, Help Please?
okay so last volleyball season, i had some really bad lower back pain, centered a little more on my left side. i had some visits with the school trainer, who told me my left hip was out of alignment. ever since last season, i get periodic hip pain, not to mention i feel it popping when i walk. last night, i went to a party and danced a lot, and this morning when i woke up, i could barely stand; even sitting now is causing me pain. i know it’s from dancing, but this pain isn’t too unusual. should i get this checked out?

See your health care provider as soon as possible. Yes, listen for the pain message and try to avoid activities that aggravate your hip. You should avoid pain medication as much as possible. Rest the joint after painful activities.
A flexion contracture is a common result of hip problems. This means that motion of the hip joint has been partly lost. The hip becomes partially fixed in a slightly bent position. When you are walking or standing, the pelvis tilts forward; and when you stand straight, the back has to curve a little more. This throws extra strain on the lower back.
For poorly understood reasons, pain in the hip is often felt down the leg, often at or just above the knee. This is called referred pain. Nonreferred hip pain may be felt in the groin or the upper outer thigh. Pain that starts in the low back is often felt in the hip region. Because the hip joint is so deeply located, it can often be difficult to identify the exact source of pain. And good luck.
