Given the MRI report, you have a herniated disc and a hemangioma, which is an abnormal build up of blood where it shouldn’t be. Of course the comp doctor will say you can go back to work – idiot. Please see an orotopedic doctor who specializes in spinal surgery. You have a probable pinched nerve somewhere, which is why you’re numb. You definitely should not be working. I hope you can get in with a specialist as soon as possible. The kind of work you do can trigger more problems in the areas. And yes, to answer your question, the tailbone could be the cause of it and the herniated disc is most likely pinched, causing the numbness, tingling, and searing pain. You also could have sciatica, which would cause the severe pain down your right leg.
I wish you good luck!
Don’t have an answer but I wish you luck. I am just starting the same journey as you, fell hard on my tailbone at work 3 weeks ago and will have an MRI next week. Dr says nothing wrong with coccyx, physical therapist says its dislocated and he can move it with his finger, who is right?? My pain and numbness is mainly in my left leg with small amount in right leg. I am betting workman’s comp says nothing wrong but I KNOW THERE IS. If that happens I may find a WC lawyer, not gonna mess around with my back and maybe can’t get around years fron now!
Oh yeah, I know what you mean about the tailbone pain, can’t sit, getting up or down is very painful and standing sucks too.
Switching doctors is wise if the state where you reside allows that. Some states have a time limit before that can happen and some states just don’t allow it. Check with your state worker’s compensation booklet to find this out. As to the doctor that you should be seeing it should be an neurologist. The neurologist is not one that does surgery and if they were to recommend it then there is a higher probability that you need it. The information that you have given is enough to point to major problems including the inability to sit, stand, or walk in comfort. If you have a lawyer make sure that all that person does in worker’s compensation law. Another lawyer that doesn’t specialize in this could actually hurt your case. Your lawyer should know doctors that specialize in your problem and who are more friendly to plaintiffs. Some doctors are defense oriented and that is not someone that you want. You should also be in a physical therapy program that specializes in back problems.
