Hi, anyone had any success getting rid of sciatica with exercise.?
All the doctor has done is give me more tablets, which dull the pain, but don’t cure the condition.
I have been to an osteopath, and the pain is now even worse, I think he has pinched a nerve.
There doesn’t seem to be any solution.

Exercise can be really good for muscle and nerve repair. It helps loosen then when u stretch out and then they strengthen. If u think that it might help more than the pills i say try it. Getting some good exercise is never a bad idea anyway.. But dont do too much if it continues to hurt or get worse. Although it might help it might not show signs right away.. it may take time. Meanwhile u should still take ur meds that ur doc gave u and tell the other doc that ur going to try exercise. i have a lot of muscle issues so i know how it is..hope it works

Remember, sciatica is a pinched nerve syndrome and as such is non treatable or non curable. Exercises alone can bring much needed relief.
Try walking a little bit. Avoid weight lifting. Staying active has helped allot with my sciatica. One thing I learned is to avoid the narcotic pain meds. They made my sciatica worse. Gentle stretching has helped too. Try laying flat on your back and hold your knees to your chest.
Walking helps, but be sure to wear good, supportive shoes, avoid hills and stairs, and do all things in moderation. Some stretching can help too, but the only way to rid yourself completely of sciatica is to find and treat the cause. Unfortunately mine is caused by permanent nerve damage, so all I can really do it learn how to better handle the pain and how to find ways to reduce it. Sometimes nothing helps but the medication. It’s been my life for 14 years now, so I know how you feel. Best wishes.
