It’s in my lower spine. The pain shoots down my legs as sciatica. And I’m SICK of being disabled because of it. By the way, I’ve been to a doctor more than once. All they do is take x-rays and tell me nothing’s broken. I’m already under the care of a chiropractor, but I’m finding some exercise helps a lot. What are the most effective ones?

I am a fully licensed experienced expert Chicago chiropractor who is the owner of a small chiropractic facility established in 1987.

I’m a graduate of Atlanta’s Emory University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in science; and I graduated from National University of Health Sciences, (previously known as the National College of Chiropractic), right here in Chicago, where I received another undergraduate degree in science as well as my doctorate.

I’ve been in private practice for more than twenty years. I treat patients of all ages. I treat expectant mothers, infants and children even teenagers. I treat middle age men and women who wish to receive the benefits of being well.

I’ve told of my background and my credentials. Allow me to tell you what I do in my daily work.

Chiropractic is a therapeutic medical system based mainly on the premise that the interactions of the spine and nervous system have recuperative powers. The idea is disease is the consequence of abnormal function of the nervous system; and based on this system health can be restored and maintained without drugs or invasive measures. Through interactions of the spine and nervous system, the treatment usually involves the practitioner making gradual, gentle adjustments to segments of the spinal column.

As a trained licensed Chicago chiropractic doctor who practices drug-free alternative medicine I help to keep the lines of communication open between your brain and your body. I do this by using gentle non-force adjustments to your spine to keep you healthy.

You see the main trunk of your nerve system is your spinal cord. It runs from your brain right through your spinal column; those 24 rings of bone, known as vertebrae, are designed to protect the main line of your nerve system as it branches out between the vertebral bones to supply 31 pairs of spinal nerves to every part of your body.

These spinal nerves are the source of your life. Your nerve system allows your brain to communicate to your body and vice-versa. It’s a system that can consistently operate trouble free for an entire life except when there is interference.

Chiropractors call this interference the Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC). It’s almost the same as when your radio or television doesn’t receive a broadcast signal. You’re not getting the message, hearing the program, or even seeing the picture, because there is interference.

The Vertebral Subluxation Complex or VSC often begins when the small joints of the spine are injured and heal incorrectly. They are misaligned. Not injury from anything real strenuous just from living your life.

Sometimes when the joints heal in misalignment a spinal nerve is pinched or irritated. This can cause an interruption of the flow of nerve information from the brain to all the parts of the body.

Chiropractic doctors find that pinched or irritated nerves can contribute to muscles of the spine to spasm or become weak. When muscles lose strength inflammation can develop and if unchecked your spinal muscles will function abnormally.

When the scar tissue and inflammation begin to spread then soft tissue and scar tissue start to grow quickly and all the tissues of the spine begin to break down.

This leads to degeneration of the whole body not only the spine. This degeneration is exhibited as sickness. So you see it is perfectly logical that since sickness is considered the result of abnormal function of the nervous system Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC) forces the entire body to become unwell.

For this reason it is logical to have an examination and consultation with a chiropractic authority. Adults who receive regular wellness care from chiropractors report less stress and more energy. All achieved naturally and totally drug free.

When sciatica strikes and you are experiencing this horrible pain – all you really want to do is to lay down in bed without moving. I know it because I was there and that’s why I am going to show you few methods of sciatica pain relief so you can get back to your normal life! You’ll need a little patience but the juice is worth the squeeze!

Sciatica Pain Relief – Sitting And Sleeping Right!

For a sciatica pain relief the first thing you want to do is to start from changing a little bit your sitting and sleeping habits. There is nothing wrong with sleeping on a nice, soft mattress when you don’t have any back problems but right now you really have to slip on harder and firm surface. I’m not saying that you have to sleep on the floor, just but something under the shits and something soft on it for more comfort!

When you are sitting on a chair, make sure that your back is straight. Slouching will curve your back, aggravate the sciatica and send you to another day of laying in bed while you are suffering from horrible pain!

Sciatica Pain Relief – Loosen The Buttocks Muscles!

Loosening the buttock muscles will give you a sciatica pain relief quickly and it’s also not that hard. Actually – all you need to do is to stretch the piriformis muscle, that is responsible for pinching the sciatic nerve and causing the pain, and it’s possible even when you are laying in bed! When you are on your back, grab the leg that hurts under the knee and pull it as close as you can to your chest. When you feel the stretch and a little pain remain in that position for 10 seconds and repeat this exercises another 2 times.

Sciatica Pain Relief – Cure The Inflammation Around The Sciatic Nerve!

Here it’s pretty simple and instead of taking the regular pain killers you have to take some anti inflammatory pills that will cure the inflammation around the sciatic nerve and stop the pain! Regular medicine is good but there is something that is much better – Bromelain. Not only it works much faster, but it’s completely natural and the source of this supplement is in pineapple which is the only fruit that contains Bromelain! The pain will be over very fast, maybe an hour maximum but remember that it’s not a full cure – it’s only pain relief!

Exercises for sciatica are very effective tool to relive sciatica pain in a natural way. There are 2 types of exercises that work for sciatica great: Leg stretches and exercises for the lower back. Stretches are great to take off the pressure from the sciatic nerve and working on the lower back will help you strengthen the spine muscles and prevent the sciatica in the future! Let’s start with the stretches first!

First Exercise For Sciatica – Stretch On A Chair!

As you can guess this exercise is performed when you are sting on a chair. Put the ankle of the leg you fell the pain at on the knee of the second leg. Now try to reach the knee of the first leg with your chest. Feeling the stretch? Remain in that position for 10 seconds and then release!

Second Exercise For Sciatica

Well, this one is also very effective and easy to perform. Lay on your back as a starting position and then take the leg where the pain is and grab it under the knee. Try to get it as close as you can to your chest until you feel the pain of a good stretch. Remain around ten seconds in that position and then repeat the exercises another 4 times!

Third Exercise For Sciatica – For The Lower Back Muscles!

This one I recommend you to do only if you can because it can aggravate the back pain even more! That one is simple: you are starting from the prone position (lying down on the stomach) and then raising your chest and head up from the floor. You can help your self a little bit with your elbows a little but. You can also do something harder – put the hands up behind your head.

The exercises work very well and they are going to help you, but there is an easier and more effective way to treat sciatica. I just want you to understand that for seeing result you have to put some work in it and be a little patience because no miracle will happen here. If you do the right things you will feel the sciatica pain relief you need but there is no chance that you’ll cure yourself without putting any effort in it!

The doctors will usually recommend you injections and pills. Some of them will even tell you to go through surgery, which is always helpful and sometimes can be a little risky – but usually it works and the results are great. But since many people don’t really want to do it because they are afraid, it’s too expensive or any other reason – that’s why exercises for sciaticaare something you really should try before making any major decisions! So try alternative methods first, at least the ones you know can’t do any damage to you, and then think about going to surgeon! Good luck!

Of all the different ways to heal your back pain naturally, a chiropractor is by far the most implemented form of alternative health care for back pain. You might be interested in knowing a little bit about what a chiropractor is going to do when you go into his office.

Chiropractors take care of health problems that are associated with the body’s muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems, especially the spine. Chiropractors also believe that the correct alignment of the spine is necessary for the nervous system to function properly. The science of chiropractic is mainly based around spinal manipulation. With manipulation, a chiropractor will use their hands to mobilize, adjust, massage, or stimulate the spine or surrounding tissues to releive your back ache, neck, hips, etc…

Chiropractors practice a drug-free, manual approach to health care. Some chiropractors use other techniques in addition to spinal manipulation to give you relief for your back pain. These include therapy using water, light, massage, ultrasound, electric impulses, acupuncture, heat and ice. Some chiropractors may suggest support products such as straps, tapes, and braces. Some chiropractors may counsel patients about wellness concepts such as what foods should they eat, exercises for back pain, changes in lifestyle, and stress management, but will never prescribe drugs or perform surgery.

At first, a chiropractor is going will do whenever you go into their office is to explore the situation in one way or another. If you have severe back pain, they may recommend doing an x-ray in order to find out if there is a problem below the surface, such as something being out of alignment. Many chiropractors will “warm you up” before they actually do any adjustments. One of the most popular ways for them to do this is through electric pulse therapy (Tens). Some people consider this to be rather uncomfortable but others consider it to be a pleasant experience. They simply put a small energy electrical pulse into your muscles. They may also do some massage treatment in order to warm up the area and get it ready for the manipulation to take place.

If you’re chiropractor knows what he is doing, he should gently ease the misalignment back into alignment again. It is not necessary for him to do this with jerking motions in most cases to fix back pain. In fact, it is usually better for the patient if the chiropractor gently works the area until the bones go back into place. Many people feel instant relief after going to a chiropractor but it may take several sessions before your back pain is eliminated altogether. Adding some lifestyle changes that the chiropractor may recommends into the mix will help the process to go much more smoothly.

After suddenly getting sever sciatica earlier this year (I am now semi recovered),i was refered to a physiothrapist who told me i had a subtly misaligned pelvis, she has been giving me excercies, today after my session my misaligned pelvis was visibly sockingly wonky. (My left leg is aroung 8cm higher than my right), just a few weeks previously it was more subtle, now she has refered me to a specialist.

What can they do to correct a misaligned pelivs, besides excercises, as they just don’t seem to be doing anything, in fact making it worse.

My dog has a slipped disc and for months we’ve tried to get him better with anti-inflammatory drugs and a muscle relaxer. He declined greatly the last few days, being unable to hold himself up to go to the bathroom and swerving greatly like he’s drunk. The vet prescribed Prednisone. Will start treatment tomorrow to allow remaining Rimadyl to leave his system. Has anyone had success with this treatment? I love my dog and I don’t want to part with him but he’s 12 and I’d like to know what to expect.

I have to take an international flight in a few days and my back and left leg pain will make it miserable. My doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer and some exercises a couple of days ago. Ibuprophen helps more than the muscle relaxer and the exercises may be helping a little and slowly. I am going for an important meeting that I can’t miss.
