12 Days Post Op Hernaited Disc L4/l5 And Decompression?
12 days on and I have felt less muscular pain but the nerve pain is getting to me. I been given tramodal but get vile headaches so I’m just taking sleepers, amitrip and para. The pain in my groin down to my legs is horrible. Seating is vile, just started driving and vile. I feel worse of now than I did before the operation. Its getting to the point where I’m not sure when to empty my bladder as in so much pain. Got a lumbar steroid injection later this month and can’t wait. I still have the pain in my buttock down to my ankle when I fell over in June. What is going on..? everybody is saying wait and it will all get better. When I stand up I feel as if my back is collapsing, two days ago did some minor exercises that the physio ask me to do…ended up in spasum.?
Help….! really stressed…!

The problem based upon the information that you have given is that the nerves are still highly irritated. They are going to take time to calm down but at this stage one would expect that there would be some improvement. One of the problems with doing back surgery is that only fifty percent success rate. The problems that were causing your back problems may not have been addressed in the procedure. If that is the case then things are not going to improve. The idea of having a cortisone injection this soon after the procedure tells me that the inflammation is bad. Talk to the therapist about what he or she is feeling back there. Also talk to the surgeon about this. Hopefully it is only some phase that the back is going through and will spontaneously clear. Use ice on the back for fifteen to twenty minutes per hour. Follow the surgeon’s and therapist’s advice.
